Student opportunities and activities
At Byron Bay High School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Some of our programs include:
- weekly sport program for students in Years 7-10
- athletics, swimming and cross-country carnivals, with regional, state and national representative opportunities
- a variety of sporting teams, with regional and state representative opportunities
- inter-school sporting competitions
- creative and performing arts groups, showcases and competitions
- participation in The Arts Unit state-based opportunities, including SpecFest, wind bands and choirs
- cultural activities and exchanges
- excursions and incursions
- public speaking and debating
- student leadership opportunities
- activities that support high potential and gifted learners
- interest based clubs, such as Bee and Hen Club, Art Club, Chess Club and Pride Club.

Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in music performances, art shows and drama activities.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
