PDHPE Assessment Policy

The PDHPE Assessment Policy supports the BBHS Assessment Policy and reflects BOSTES requirements. It forms an integral part of the teaching and learning process and is designed to inform and drive the teaching and learning process.

Assessing student achievement in PDHPE is done through a process of collecting information on student performance over a series of both theory and/or physical tasks, to build up an individual profile of each student's achievement in the course. Students will be continually assessed formally and informally on all units of work throughout the year. Professional judgement is an important and valid tool in assessment and it sets minimum expectations on teachers for managing assessment and reporting student performance.

As reporting to parents is one of every teacher's major areas of responsibility, the task is to implement standardised procedures to ensure a methodical and substantiated measure of student progress is paramount.

Students in years 7-11 are assessed as per the A-E scale based on varying criteria in each assessable task undertaken. Students in year 12 PDHPE are assessed using the relevant and appropriate outcomes from the syllabus and linked directly to the band descriptors for HSC marking.
